The Secret To Happiness While You Are Dieting

FAT LOSS MINDSET

HOW TO OVERCOME DISAPPOINTMENTS BY MANAGING EXPECTATIONS

Hopefully you know by now that losing weight and staying fit is never a “one size fits all” approach.

For example, a young whippersnapper between the ages of 20 and 30 years-old is going to get a heck of lot faster fat burning results than someone who is over 40.

And even though it really doesn’t seem fair, there is a certain percentage of people out there that can pretty much eat whatever they want and not gain a single pound of fat.

If this describes you, consider yourself very lucky.

For the REST of us, life is different.

That’s why the secret to happiness while dieting is to properly manage your own expectations.

My wife Karen is a perfect example.

Many times she is so busy comparing herself to every 30 year-old hard body she sees, she forgets that she’s “hotter” than 99% of all the 56 year-olds on the planet!

Because she’s not managing her expectations properly.

I’ve seen this happen over and over again working with my private clients over the last 18 years too.

MOST people set their expectations way too high.

They compare themselves to a swimsuit or fitness model, some Hollywood celebrity, or even a good friend that has the “skinny” gene.

I know from my own personal experience of being involved in the fitness modeling industry that you can usually only hold the “peak” moments that you see in photographs for a few hours at a time, a day or two at most.

Each time I had one of these photos taken above I had to manipulate my sodium, water, minerals, and carbs.

Magazine 1Even if you don’t look perfect it simply doesn’t matter because after photographers “capture” these moments they hand them off to advertisers who airbrush the photos and trick us into making us feel like we should be able to look this way all the time.

Not true, OR realistic.

Think about how many times you’ve seen a famous model or actor on the cover of a magazine or on a commercial, looking out of this world.

Then a day or two later while you’re buying groceries you see them “caught on hidden camera” with all their physical flaws exposed by some gossip magazine or publication.

Guys too!

I know it’s a helleva lot harder for me to burn fat at 45 than it was just five years ago.

Yes, it sucks.

But that’s life.

It’s the hand we’ve been dealt so we have to learn how to play it right, and manage our expectations properly, or we’ll just set ourselves up for disappointment and failure.

Focus on the forest, not the trees.

– If you’re struggling…

– Or you’re not happy with how your body looks…

– Or you’re not getting the results you’re looking for…

Keep going!

You’ll get your breakthrough if you don’t give up. CONSISTENCY NOT PERFECTION is the key.

This is the only way, in my opinion, to make your health and fitness journey a rewarding and pleasurable experience.

Remember, health and fitness is a journey NOT an event.

If you’re frustrated, hopefully this helps put things in perspective.
