Many of you probably didn’t know that long before Get Lean In 12 was a successful and thriving company that I failed miserably for three years straight.
I nearly lost everything meaningful in my life.
– My wife
– My house
– My confidence
– My pride
– My livelihood
In fact, at one point I was literally living out of the trunk of an old beat up white Chevy Cavalier and spending nights at my business partner’s house.
So this was my house:
Many times I had to drive over an hour away from my office and stay at my mom’s house.
And no matter how hard I worked day after day I couldn’t understand WHY so many bad things were happening to me.
My family and friends told me that I needed to quit chasing my pipe dream and get a “real” job.
Now don’t get me wrong here…
I know they all had great intentions…their advice was heart felt and came from a place of love.
But in hindsight this was the best thing that has EVER happened to me.
Because God has a purpose behind every problem and He was preparing me for something bigger and better.
And no one is immune to criticism, pain, and suffering at some point during their life.
But every problem or challenge in our life is an opportunity for character development.
And EVERY adversity hides a gift.
You just have to be patient enough to know, whether it’s your body, your health, your relationships, and even your finances…
Your breakthrough WILL arrive. I promise.
So always remember what Zig Ziglar said:
“Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.”
When all hell breaks loose, you have TWO choices in life.
Choice #1: P.L.O.M. disease
Choice #2: P.M.A.
The first path I call PLOM disease, which stands for Poor Little Ole’ Me 🙂
This can be an easy trap to fall into when adversity strikes.
That’s why is critical to make a conscious effort to pick choice number two:
It’s not a cure for all our problems…but it is a choice.
And if you focus on maintaining a PMA you’ll be able to handle the outcome of ANY situation and potentially even change the outcome altogether.
So why not stack the deck in your favor?
Stay Positive: After all, adversity will strike all of us.
The difference between success and failure is getting up off the ground when adversity hits, dusting yourself off and making the “choice” to avoid the dreaded PLOM disease and stay positive.
That’s the only reason I’ve been able to take 3 on-line health and fitness books to the Top 10 Best Seller list in the last 9 months.
I stayed positive and avoided PLOM disease no matter what the circumstances were.
Remember, if you have a problem or issue in your life there’s probably a 95% chance that you’ve (directly or indirectly) created the problem – so you’re responsible.
I know this is a tough pill to swallow, but it’s 100% accurate, so stay positive.
I’ve failed over and over again at fat-loss, my business, and many other things in my life, but I’ve always continued to stay positive.
Your ability to fight and stay positive will allow you to make continuous progress and serious life changes.
If you screw up, who cares?
Get back up and start over and over…and don’t quit starting over.
Sometimes in life we can’t control what happens to us and sometimes we can.
The only thing we really can control is “how” we react to any situation when adversity hits.
Remember, when you light yourself on fire with a PMA, people will travel miles to watch you burn.
The positive energy becomes contagious.
Keep going strong.
