New Year’s Resolution
At the end of every year I always reflect back at my successes and failures for two important reasons.
First, to celebrate my victories.
It’s important for us to stop and smell the roses.
Sometimes we get so focused on what’s next, or tomorrow, that we forget to reward ourselves for our victories.
But I also think it’s vitally important to look even closer at our failures.
After all, our failures and shortcomings are how we learn and grow — personally, physically, and professionally.
Ultimately, the way you START 2014 will most likely determine your outcome at the end of the year.
So the first 90 days of the New Year are crucial.
Three things that I highly recommend you use to maintain laser like focus for your New Year’s Resolution and your best year ever are:
There are no magic bullets.
If you want to live life with the body of your dreams this coming year it’s going to require some sacrifice.
So first things first.
Set a hard deadline to achieve measurable results.
Have New Year’s Resolution (deadlines)
For example, if I pay a photographer ahead of time for a photo shoot and set a hard deadline, there’s NO doubt I’m gonna be ready.
It could be a vacation, a special event, or some type of contest.
Look at your calendar and set your hard deadline before the New Year starts. This will give you huge momentum going into 2014.
Second, create weekly rewards for your health and fitness goals.
This is where your favorite cheat meal comes in.
Every week, pick the day and time you’re going to eat your favorite cheat meal and reward yourself for all your previous week’s hard work.
This works like a charm for a few reasons.
Psychologically, it gives you something to focus on when the going gets tough.
Physically, you’ll give your body a much needed break.
Additionally, that pizza and ice cream tastes TWICE as good when it’s a reward instead of being an escape.
Just make sure you don’t go on a food bender and sabotage your results.
Lastly, and most importantly, is accountability.
Everyone needs someone or something to be accountable to in order to achieve a radical body transformation.
Accountability is my secret advantage to a successful business and maintaining a lean body.
As a husband, my wife holds me accountable to date night every week.
It keeps my marriage healthy and my wife happy.
As my great friend Vince Delmonte says:
“Happy wife = Happy life” 🙂
As a business owner my company absolutely exploded in 2013 and it was all because I hired Craig Ballantyne to coach me.
Craig held me accountable to specific actionable steps on a daily and weekly basis.
By having someone to answer to every week I was guaranteed specific, measurable results.
Your body is no different.
Find and use some type of accountability in 2014 and you’ll achieve your goals TWICE as fast.
The Final Analysis: YOUR New Year’s Resolution:
There will never be a perfect time in your life to get in shape.
I have all kinds of unique tricks and techniques to accelerate your rate of fat loss – BUT…the best approach is the one that you’re willing to make a commitment to and be consistent with.
Almost every fat loss plan out there will get you at least some kind of result, if you stick to it.
But without setting deadlines, creating rewards, and being held accountable for your behaviors, you’ll most likely fall short or fail.
I know it’s not a sexy, feel-good, warm and fuzzy approach.
But it works!
Keep going strong,
Your friend and coach for your best year EVER,
