Believe it or not, exercises like sit ups and even traditional crunches can place harmful stress on the disks between the bones in your spine, potentially causing severe back
pain and nerve damage.
Always remember that doing a lot of spinal flexion-based movements can be harmful to your low back because this will compress the disks in your spine.
Even the world’s top lower back and ab experts like Dr. Stuart McGill recommends no sit-ups because they place devastating loads on the disks.
Repetitive, loaded spinal flexion places excessive loads on the lower back and is one of the leading causes of herniated disks.
This is one of the many reasons crunches and sit-ups are the WORST exercise of 2013.
So STOP doing crunches and sit-ups. Change over to CORE trainingthat really works.
