If that wasn’t enough insanity, my next desperate and brilliant move was to ignorantly dump all my money into useless supplements that I thought were my answer. You know all the hyped up claims and empty promises: “Burn fat”, “Build muscle”, “Elevate your metabolism and lose weight without exercise”.
It seemed obvious. Make healthy food choices, exercise more, take miracle supplements and the fat would magically melt off my body and all my problems should disappear – right?
Wrong.
The end result over eight years later?
Nothing. No change in my body OR my life. A complete waste of time.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get rid of the ugly fat around my lower belly or change the negative circumstances of my life. My body and my life stayed exactly the same. Talk about years of unnecessary frustration.
By the way, some of this stuff, or maybe all of it, might sound familiar and maybe you can even relate?
This is typically when I would say screw this! I would consistently put forth all this effort and still couldn’t make any progress, so I figured I might as well go escape and try to enjoy life instead. I would go drown my sorrows in alcohol and binge on bad food as a way to numb my nagging insecurities about my fat gut – and my unfulfilling life.
It seemed like so much fun at the time. Devouring pizza and ice cream and pounding down beer, wine, and liquor with friends.
Until the next day, of course, I would wake up feeling more guilty and empty than ever. I just couldn’t get rid of that burning passion inside me that wanted something different for my life.
So I would immediately get back to the same vicious diet and exercise cycle and the frustration would just continue over-and-over again. And of course I would always combine it with all the latest and greatest low carb diet advice from all the so-called experts hoping for something more.
But nothing. Zero. Zilch. Notta. NO results.
Finally, I had to face reality and ask myself the hardest question of all: “Is my body and metabolism even capable of burning fat?”

After trying practically everything on the planet but plastic surgery, all my weight loss and frustrations finally came crashing down.
